Keepin it at šŸ’Æ

“KEEPIN IT AT šŸ’Æ”

I see this phrase plastered all over Facebook and I hear my 15 year old son say it quite a bit. He even has socks that have the šŸ’Æ emoji on them. Everytime I see the phrase I think, Does anyone ever really keep it at 100 as they say? Is there anyone on this earth that doesn’t hide any part of them from the world?

I don’t think so. I think we all have parts of us that we hide. Parts of us that we don’t want anyone else to see. In the day of social media most people portray a person that is not true to themselves. In some small way we are all keeping ourselves hidden. Some more than others. We all put our best foot forward on social media and out in the real world. We put what we want others to see in us out there. We keep our true selves guarded and portray the person we want to be. Maybe someday, if we pretend long enough, we may become that person we want everyone to think we are. We hide things that we are ashamed of. Things that are embarrassing. Things that we think make us unworthy or unloveable.

This isn’t a new thing. It has been happening since the dawn of time before the internet existed. It has been said for years, ā€œYou never truly know someone till you live with them.ā€ That’s why they say the first year of marriage is the hardest. You may think you know someone but when you live with them and are with them all of the time, you find out things you didn’t know. Things that were hidden before. That’s when you get to know a person. Before living with them , you only catch a glimpse of the person they portray. Even when you live with that person you may not ever fully know them. Sure you see the ugly parts. The moments of anger, sadness, weakness but you don’t see their thoughts. There is only one who truly knows any of us. Only one who knows all of our thoughts and secrets that we hide from everyone else.

That one person is Jesus. He knows who we truly are even more than we know ourselves. No matter how much we try, we can’t hide anything from him. We have no choice but to keep it at šŸ’Æwith Jesus. He knows the darkest part of our hearts, and the evilness of our minds. Yet, he loves us. He loves every one of us, no matter how far away from him we are. We are never unworthy or unloveable in his eyes. He never leaves us or forsakes us. He has never sinned and He has never lied. He says all can come to Him  and He truly means it. He is the only one who truly keeps it at šŸ’Æ.

You don’t have to fear. You don’t have to ask if you are good enough. He has already told you that you are. We could never be good enough to earn our way into heaven. We could never be perfect. There is none perfect, not one. The good news is, we don’t have to be. Jesus died on the cross for us because we could not be perfect. He came to live a perfect life and be the perfect lamb to die for us because we could not be perfect. Heaven would be empty if only perfect people were allowed in.

Does this mean that we just accept our imperfections and never try to be better? No! We have to always to try to be better every single day. Not because we want to earn our way in to heaven. Not because we are afraid of God’s wrath. Not because we want something in return for our obedience. Not because of the rewards we are building up for us in heaven. We try to be better because we love Him and want to make Him proud. We want to be better because we want to be a light in the world so that others can see Him  through us. So that others might get to experience the same love and peace through Jesus Christ that we have. So, that others who know us will get to share heaven with us. Ultimately at the end of our time on earth when we arrive at our Father’s house we want to hear those words ā€œWell done my good and faithful

I want to live a life that makes my father in heaven proud. I want to live a life that makes my children proud to call me their mother. I want my husband to be proud that I am his wife. I want to be the absolute best daughter, mom, wife, friend, co worker, person, etc that I can be. I want to show the best in everything I do but I fall short all of the time. I make mistakes every minute of the day. If I were to show the world every piece of me, every part that I hide, I would no doubt be met with harsh judgement and constant criticism. I am so happy that my God the one who knows all is a patient God. The only one who knows me through and through is the only one capable of Agape love.

So yes, I keep it at šŸ’Æ with the only one who matters. The one I couldn’t hide from if I tried. The one who knows my heart and yours. I can build a person at home, at work or on the internet who I want others to see but I can never hide from God and neither can you.

     servantā€

Jesus says ā€œyou will know them by their fruitsā€  I believe that if you truly know Jesus you will produce good fruit. Not perfect fruit, but good fruit. Not through your own doing, but through the Holy Spirit that is inside of you. We are set apart. We are different. We fall short sure, but there is a difference in us and those in the world. We think different. We act different. We talk different.

Jesus does love each of us. We can come to Him as we are but, we are fooling ourselves and others if we think that means we don’t have to change. We have to be willing to let Him transform us .

Have you truly been transformed by Jesus ? You will never reach perfection. It’s a daily transformation that never stops. We are made more and more like Him as we walk with Him more and more.  He loves you no matter what you’ve done and He will accept you as you are, but He wants your heart not just your lip service.  Knowing His forgiving character and agape love doesn’t mean that we take advantage of that and use it as an excuse to live as we want.

While you are out there keepin it  šŸ’Æ, just remember who you say you represent.
